A fifth roof renovated through Là pour toit
Habitat pour l'humanité Québec is proud to announce the renovation of a fifth roof as part of the Là pour toit project. This time, it's Marilou and her daughters, homeowners in Oka, who benefited from over $40,000 worth of work in November 2025, made possible thanks to the exceptional mobilization of dedicated partners.
"It's really one less major worry for me and my daughters," shares Marilou, visibly moved. "I didn't even know this existed in Canada."
A Community Coming Together
Launched in 2023, the Là pour toit project was born from an alliance between roofing contractors, materials supplier GAF, and Habitat pour l'humanité Québec. The goal: to provide roof renovations to low-income homeowner families whose homes require urgent intervention.
For Audrey from Toitures et Isolation Alex Côté, a founding partner of the project, the impact is tangible. "We know we're making a difference in the lives of families in our area. It's already been three years, four families we've helped. We're fortunate to be able to count on partners who help us push the project forward."
Francis from SOPREMA Canada, a partner for two years, shares this enthusiasm: "It's rewarding when our clients get involved socially and give us the chance to get involved at the same time. It's a very beautiful project."
Major Work for Lasting Impact
The work completed at Marilou's home included complete cleaning of the frame, redoing the insulation, replacing the wood, and installing a new roof with all necessary accessories.
SOPREMA Canada provided two sets of spray polyurethane foam, a solution that reduces air infiltration and heat loss, allowing the family to enjoy a more comfortable and energy-efficient living space.
Generosity That Inspires
Sophie Dalbec, Executive Director of Habitat pour l'humanité Québec, emphasizes the importance of these collaborations: "We have suppliers who come back year after year. Audrey's generosity and ability to rally people are quite spectacular. She reaches out to all kinds of partners and donors to help families. It's very much appreciated."
Habitat pour l'humanité Québec would like to warmly thank all the partners who make the Là pour toit project possible:
- Toitures et Isolation Alex Côté and LVL Construction –Founding partners and volunteer roofers
- GAF – Donation of shingles
- Sylvestre et Mathieu – Debris management (partner since the beginning)
