Our impact

Every affordable home creates change that goes far beyond its walls.

Every affordable home creates change that goes far beyond its walls.

In Québec, 92% of the population recognizes that there is an affordable housing shortage. For low-income families, this reality means precarious living conditions, instability and constant stress.

Affordable homeownership offers a lasting solution that transforms the lives of families, their children and their community. (2024 Léger survey)

"Being a homeowner has brought me security and pride. Having a yard and a garden, and the space my children need to grow and thrive, changes everything."

An engine of prosperity

The impact of Habitat's affordable homeownership program goes beyond families. Between 2019 and 2023, the total economic footprint of Habitat's construction and rehabilitation work in Canada was $311 million, generating nearly $40 million in tax revenue.

After becoming homeowners, Habitat families' average incomes end up nearly 30% higher than they would have been had they remained renters. This increase in productivity injects $35 million into the Canadian economy every year.

80% of homeowners say that without their partnership with Habitat, they would never have been able to become homeowners.
