The Habitat movement
Habitat for Humanity is a movement of people in our region and around the world, working together to build stronger communities and ensure that everyone has a decent, affordable place to call home.
Since Habitat for Humanity was founded in Canada in 1985, thousands of families in every province and territory have been able to build their lives on their own terms thanks to adequate, affordable housing. We do this by partnering with families to build and renovate homes, by innovating in financing methods and by advocating for policies that support homeownership.
Every safe, affordable home creates a broader change: better health, better education, greater well-being and increased economic growth. Peace of mind starts with a place to call home.

Habitat for Humanity Québec
In Québec, we are the only local Habitat in the province. We help low-income Quebec families living in precarious housing conditions become homeowners for the first time, and we support them so they can remain homeowners for life.
To date, we have helped more than 40 families become homeowners, providing a stable home for nearly 120 children. More than 6,000 volunteers have contributed to our projects, for a total of more than 90,000 hours.
What we do
We develop projects by bringing together different stakeholders around building decent, affordable housing for low-income Quebec families. Since our beginnings, more than 40 families have become homeowners through our program.
We strengthen families' independence by offering, free of charge, a support service and a training program in financial literacy, budgeting, home maintenance, and the rights and responsibilities of homeowners.
Through projects such as Là pour toit and the Kahnawà:ke house repair program, we improve living conditions for low-income homeowner families whose homes need urgent work.
Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national charitable organization made up of local Habitats working in every province and in the North. Through their innovative approach to building, renovating and financing homes, they help people gain skills and come together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity Canada is a member of Habitat for Humanity International, a global leader among nonprofit organizations working in more than 70 countries.
