Habitat for Humanity Québec and the MONTONI Foundation completed the construction of six homes in Lachine, helping families in Greater Montréal become homeowners.
On October 29, 2024, these six families received the keys to their new homes at a ceremony attended by volunteers, partners and local elected officials.
In the current context of an affordable housing shortage, this project is a step in the right direction for these families, who previously lived in precarious housing conditions.
This new project was made possible thanks to $300,000 in financial support from the MONTONI Foundation, as well as the commitment of Groupe Montoni, who are carrying out the project at cost price. In addition, thanks to the support of its partners and suppliers, Groupe Montoni has committed to raising a further $300,000 for the project.
The Habitat for Humanity Quebec team also counted on $400,000 in aid from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), thanks to a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada.
This construction was part of Habitat for Humanity Quebec's major new campaign, "Bâtir Pour Demain", the first phase of which aims to raise $2.5 million. The goal was to support 16 new families by 2026.
