Jeremy, finalist in the Meaning of Home contest, celebrated at Académie Marie-Laurier
Jeremy, a Grade 5 student at Académie Marie-Laurier in Brossard, was celebrated by his class and school for his achievement in the national Meaning of Home contest, presented by Habitat for Humanity Canada.

Every year, the contest invites students in Grades 4 to 6 across the country to share, through a poem or essay, what home means to them. Each entry also generates a donation to the participant's local Habitat. This year, more than 19,000 students took part, raising $440,000, bringing the total raised since 2007 to over $3.4 million for affordable housing projects across the country.
With his poem "Le sens de chez moi", Jeremy was named a runner-up in his category. Thanks to his participation, a $10,000 grant will be awarded to Habitat for Humanity Quebec to support our affordable housing projects.
Erik Belhumeur, of BMO, the contest's title sponsor, visited the school to present a gift to Jeremy and recognize his achievement in front of his entire class. Sophie Dalbec, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Quebec, Mme Monique Bergeron, Director of Académie Marie-Laurier Brossard campus, and Mme Noura Iguer, Jeremy's teacher, were also present for the celebration. The class then enjoyed a pizza lunch to mark the occasion.
