Habitat for Humanity Québec is a non-profit organization with a mission to build or renovate homes for selected low-income families. In partnership with the material supplier GAF, the umbrella organization of the “Community Matters” program, and roofing contractors in your area, we have created a program to help families in need whose homes require re-roofing. One family per contractor will be selected according to their respective region.
To qualify, your family must meet the following criteria:
- Own the home whose roof needs repair: your roof must be shingled (pitched roof).
- Have a modest gross family income
- Be prepared to provide the following documents:
- Photos of your roof;
- Proof of ownership (property tax bill, deed);
- Proof of modest income (notice of assessment for the last three years);
- Ability to pay a certain amount in the event of unforeseen circumstances (e.g. change of wood due to rot) at cost;
- Agree to provide photos and testimonials of various kinds about your experience with this program.
Over the next few weeks, Habitat for Humanity Quebec will evaluate all applications and then select families eligible for the program. Applications that do not contain all the required information will not be processed. It is therefore extremely important that your application contains all the necessary information when we receive it.
You must have a real and pressing need due to your roof's condition. Following your request, if you are eligible, project staff may visit your home to assess your needs and the work to be carried out.
