Construction Project in Lachine
Habitat for Humanity Quebec and the MONTONI Foundation are launching the construction of six residential units to enable Greater Montreal families to become homeowners. For both organizations, in the current context of a shortage of affordable housing, this building is a step in the right direction, which will make all the difference for these six families living in precarious housing conditions. The building, located in Lachine, will welcome its first occupants in the summer of 2024.
This new project is being made possible thanks to $300,000 in financial support from the MONTONI Foundation, as well as the commitment of Groupe Montoni, who are carrying out the project at cost price. In addition, thanks to the support of its partners and suppliers, Groupe Montoni has committed to raising a further $300,000 for the project. The Habitat for Humanity Quebec team is also counting on $400,000 in aid from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), thanks to a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada.
This construction is part of Habitat for Humanity Quebec's major new campaign, ‘Batir Pour Demain’, the first phase of which aims to raise $2.5 million. The goal is to support 16 new families by 2026.
